MA Sheep and Wool Festival

On Saturday, my father and I went to the Massachusetts Sheep and Woolcraft Fair in Cummington MA. This was our first ever sheep and wool show. I'd heard that this was a relatively small event (as such shows go), but it was nice to be able to see things without being pushed along and aside by a sea of humanity. Even though small, there were still a lot of people there and, even better, lots of vendor booths.

The stars of the day were the sheep, of course. Lots of noisy sheep. But it was also interesting to see the wide variety (and total number) of spinning wheels -- both in use at the open spinning area and for sale. We loved to see all the eager young girls spinning.

There were so many beautiful yarns for sale...this is what I chose. Two skeins of Fox Sox Bamboo (Superwash Merino, Bamboo, and Nylon) in Winterberry from Foxfire Fiber & Design.

This was the first time I'd been back to this part of Massachusetts in about 35 years. Yikes!
