Let's Take a Trip in the Way Back Machine Mr Peabody

This weekend we were organizing some stuff to give away. One item was an oversized stereo -- too big and never used. But there was a certain component the charity wouldn't take.....probably because most of the recipients wouldn't know what it was! Yes -- it is a turntable.

I'm working on setting it up and getting it to work. It turns. The arm moves over --but it won't go down. Maybe it's the counterweight. I need to play with it more......most impressively, I even found the manual for it. And yes, we still have some albums -- that's Pete Townshend's Empty Glass.

I still have lots of albums, too. And my turntable doesn't work either. I think one of my boys broke it. I've been tempted to order one of those Thomas Picconi ones from the Q.

If the arm won't go down, check to see if there is a lever to allow it to stay up - some of the better quality turntables had a separate lever so that you could raise and lower the arm over one cut on a record, for smoother selecting of songs without scratching the needle across, as sometimes happens when you try to do it by hand. Not to mention, the possibilty of dropping the arm onto the record, damaging both the needle and the track....

Oh, Yes, I *am* a little older, lol... and have something like a thousand records in my collection...

And turntables and vinyl *are* coming back, in high quality, even :)

I came here to check out your Mystic Light (gorgeous!!!) and found this post when my cat jumped up and bumped my hand on the mouse, lol.... :)

Too bad you can't use it to be come a DJ Mixer. I can see you hitting the records on the dance floor.
