New England Feels Like Florida

The weather in New England has been hot and humid this August. Day after day. At first there was no rain -- leading to problems at the garden -- the water tanks were empty and we had to carry over gallons of water from the house a couple times a day.

That changed this past weekend when it finally rained. A lot. 3.5 inches worth (and don't you just love our new rain gauge?). [And, of course, the pump for the water tanks is now fixed!]


But the heavy rain and wind caused some branches on our neighbor's dead tree to come down. I just expect the whole tree to come down and block our driveway someday. And it's a BIG tree. But the fungus/parasite/whatever growing on the downed branches was kind of cool.
