Curly Hair

I have curly hair. Hmmmm. And a lot of gray hair. With some frizz thrown in. Hmmmmmm. I guess it's a good thing I can't see the back. This hair needs more work than I thought.
In any event, I recently read a post by Turtlegirl and she recommended Rosi G's nightcap to help control curly hair -- something I need on the hot, humid days of summer. I finally finished it yesterday and wore it last night. It actually stayed on all night and my hair felt soft this morning. Looking totally dorky is a small price to pay for that!

It's made of Red Heart Heart & Sole fingering weight yarn. I didn't like the original colors -- so this is overdyed with Kool-Aid. It evened things out a bit.

Here in Bangladesh, as in India, long, sleek, brown hair is the norm. For the life of me I could not figure out why no one's hair gets frizzy given the humidity. Just as in Florida, my hair goes crazy in this humid climate. Finally learned how these ladies manage it: they use oil. Not everyone uses shampoo on a regular, or even sort of regular basis. But the oil keeps their hair dark and slick, no matter what the weather. Since I am coloring my hair as I have yet to make peace with the grays, oil seems kind of weird. So instead I have my hair up in a sloppy bun, further strapped in by a long scarf wrapped around my head a couple of times. The boss here keeps calling me "mullah" or "taliban" (which I do not think is very funny). The school girls were fascinated by it and I let them fix my hair whenever we do a school training. Go fiture.
